The origin

MADIBA stands for Marcus Diener Basel — the name carries the founder’s initials. Since 1964 Madiba has stood for the same thing in Basel: letting, managing and developing property, with local instinct and across decades.

The owner

Madiba is led and shaped by Irene Diener. What the company is today is her work: market knowledge built over decades, successful first lettings, dependable management and the repositioning of entire sites. Madiba is her business — and her success.

Her style shapes how we work: personal, direct, with an eye for the whole and one for the detail. Decisions are not made at a distant head office but at Sternengasse — where the buildings, the neighbourhoods and the people are known.

Management

Dieter Ruf was born in Basel and has worked in real estate for over thirty years. From 2002 to 2007 he was vice-president of SVIT beider Basel, and from 2009 to 2020 president of the Swiss examination board for the real estate industry. He played a leading part in founding the Swiss Chamber of Brokers.

As managing director he runs the day-to-day business: property management, marketing and renovation. He attends to the economic, technical and emotional aspects of your property — with a view to preserving and increasing its value. That includes dealing fairly and as a partner with tenants: people who feel at home stay longer.

Quality management and IT

The third generation is now part of the company: Michael Liatowitsch. He is responsible for quality management and long-term IT strategy — and redesigned our processes when the office went paperless.

Managing property efficiently today means working with the right software. We rely on modern systems that shorten processes instead of producing paper — and we pass the access on. Owners can see documents, key figures and statements at any time in their own owner portal, tenants report damage and requests around the clock in the tenant portal. What saves us time saves you time too.

What we do

We manage residential and commercial properties, handle first and re-lettings, sell, value and repurpose — from a single apartment to the repositioning of entire industrial sites. Projects such as Stücki, the Wohnhäuser Hammerstrasse, the Warteck-Areal or the Helsinki-Turm in Dreispitz show the range: sites become vibrant neighbourhoods, something new grows out of the existing — and after that, we stay on board in operations for decades.

That is exactly where our strength lies: not in the quick deal, but in the long accompaniment. Whoever entrusts a property to Madiba places it in hands that will guide it for years.
