Waste disposal in Basel

Basel separates waste rigorously, and the rules are stricter than in many neighbouring countries: household waste goes in the chargeable Bebbi-Sagg, everything else is collected separately. Paper and cardboard are picked up kerbside; glass, metal, textiles and green waste belong at the collection points.

Newcomers usually underestimate two things: refuse may only go in the official chargeable sack — other bags are left standing and can be fined — and collection days differ from street to street. This page shows both: your dates by address and the nearest collection point.
