On the smaller scale this means adapting a property to modern living and working requirements, upgrading it energetically and not merely preserving its value but increasing it. We plan renovations and refurbishments, coordinate everyone involved and keep an eye on budget, deadlines and ongoing operation.
On the larger scale it means converting and repositioning entire sites. A textile dyeing works becomes a retail and commercial location (Stücki). A factory site becomes a mixed residential quarter with shops and studios (Wohnhäuser Hammerstrasse). A disused brewery becomes a lively site with culture, commerce and housing (Warteck). Classic food retail becomes a curated food court (Starbites, Hawkers Market).
For us repositioning means recognising the potential of a place and realising it — in planning, in letting and in long-term operation. We think consistently from the end backwards: what will carry itself in the market? Who are the future users? How does the quarter stay alive, not just on opening day but across decades?
It is exactly this combination of development and lasting operation that has always defined Madiba: not marketing a site once, but keeping it alive across decades.
